Black-tailed godwit

I like watching wading birds and when we had a chance to make a reverse applique bird I chose to make a black-tailed godwit.
I collected pictures and drew some godwits.

I then simplified a sketch so that I could sew the godwit.

The chosen fabrics were layered sewn from the back and  cut back to the stitching to create a layered effect.

The godwit was attached to a line mono print for the background and completed with simple running stitch.
